Knoydart, Scotland - May 2013 - Trip Report

My girlfriend Lizzie had booked us both a trip to Scotland as a present for me. We’d spend 6 days there; 3 walking and camping in Knoydart to scratch my itches, and 3 based out of a B&B in Fort William.

Knoydart was wet. Over 3 days we walked east from the ferry point to the nearest train station. Despite the poor weather and light snow cover we still managed to achieve our route, taking in several munroes as we went. On our second night we stayed in a bothy and so I dutifully set about collecting wood for a fire – after an hours hard work I was dismayed when two more people arrived carrying steaks and fire logs!

The trains in this part of Scotland are very sporadic and the last hour of the trek was at a fast walk/slow job with me carrying both our rucksacks. We made it to the station just in time, crossing to the other platform just as the train pulled in!
